The primary purpose of The Oxnard Heritage Foundation (OHF) is to assist and advance the education, and fund efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of the City of Oxnard, California.

Our specific purposes are to educate the Oxnard community about it’s historic resources. We hope to promote cultural awareness and encourage the economic growth that will help revitalize Oxnard’s communities by connecting the past with the present to inform our shared future.

By uniting our community leaders, business people, historians, teachers, and preservationists in a coalition approach to historic education and preservation advocacy we can help to preserve our cultural heritage. Offering educational programs, tours, lectures and workshops on history, architecture and the benefits of historic preservation will advance the education of our community. As a community it is important to advocate to save endangered buildings and develop alternative strategies to promote historic preservation including purchasing neglected properties and returning them to productive use.

By utilizing our local resources we can help building owners to restore their historic properties with consultation and referral services and to support our neighborhoods and commercial revitalization. Preserving the historical structures of Oxnard’s Downtown Area, other historical resources and/or potential historical resources within our community are extremely important.

In support of our historic neighborhoods we would like to explore and implement the expansion of the Henry T. Oxnard District or create new historical districts within the greater Oxnard area. Through this we can preserve the integrity (structure) of the historic neighborhoods and improve safety concerns determined by the community. Advocating and supporting home beautification and pride in the neighborhood and its public and private property.
